Welcome to First Grade!My name is Melissa Allen. I am very excited to have you in my class this year! I am looking forward to a year full of growth, learning, and development. I am committed to making sure all students feel safe, welcomed, valued, and heard! In our classroom, we will work together to learn how to be kind to everyone and always persevere in everything we do.
About Mrs. Allen
I graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor's in Education for Inclusive Environments. I was born and raised in Anaheim, California. I have been living in Washington for 8 years now. I am a proud first generation Latina who appreciates everything my parents did to help me get here today. During my free time, I love to do word searches, go on walks, watch movies, play with my cats, read, and paint rocks.
This is my third year teaching first grade! I really enjoy teaching first grade because it is the year when we learn to read and write many words together! In addition, I enjoy teaching my students life skills such as creating friendships, solving problems, asking for help, and learning new strategies on how to handle our strong emotions. I can't wait to start this new school year!
