• Anna Marie Jackson Laurence appointed to Everett Public Schools Board of Directors 

    The Everett Public Schools Board of Directors has appointed Anna Marie Jackson Laurence to fill the Director Position 3 seat, which became vacant in March 2025. The appointment was made during a special board meeting held on May 1, 2025.  

    Public interviews with five candidates began at 11:30 a.m. on May 1. After the interviews, the board entered executive session to deliberate. At approximately 4:51 p.m., the board returned to open session and voted 3–1 to appoint Laurence to serve through December 2025.

    School Board President Traci Mitchell stated, “The board approached this process with care, deliberation, and a commitment to finding the best fit to serve our students, families, and staff. We welcome Anna Marie Jackson Laurence to the board and look forward to the perspective and energy she will bring to our collective work.” 

    As part of her application, Laurence stated, “I want to serve our community in a meaningful way, and I cannot think of a better way than helping our next generation be the best it can be.” 

    About Anna Marie Jackson Laurence 

    Laurence serves in various roles with local organizations, including the Rotary Club of Everett, the Assistance League of Everett, the Henry M. Jackson Foundation, and the Gertrude Jackson Memorial Scholarship. She has also served on the boards of the Everett Museum of History and PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support). Her involvement has included work in scholarship administration, fundraising, and organizational governance. 

    She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit School of Law and a bachelor's degree in American History from Stanford University. Her professional background includes roles as a Deputy Prosecutor for Snohomish County and a Foreign Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Department of Defense. 

    Next Steps 

    Laurence will be sworn in during the regular board meeting on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Resource Center Board Room (3900 Broadway, Everett). She will participate in a school board orientation in June and a board planning session in August. 

    The Position 3 seat will be on the November 2025 ballot. The filing window for interested candidates is May 5–9, 2025.
